Softley Events Leads Team In Organising Fourth Bi-Annual Think Pink Ball
Spectacular event raises over £10,000 for deserving charities
Softley Events and the Think Pink Committee are proud to announce that the fourth bi-annual Think Pink Ball has raised over £10,000 for this year’s nominated charities, Keeping Abreast, The Rosemary Group and Breakthrough Breast Cancer, each of whom will receive a one third share of the funds.
The Norwich Think Pink Ball is a bi-annual event organised by a small group of dynamic Norwich businesswomen, who each bring their own special area of expertise to the event. This year the Think Pink Committee consisted of Sarah Softley, Ruth Thurston and Anna Stevenson, who are all passionate about raising money for breast cancer charities. Chaired by Sarah Softley, Director and owner of successful event management company, Softley Events, it goes without saying that Sarah was instrumental in ensuring every detail of the evening went to plan.
The 2010 Think Pink Ball was a spectacular circus themed event held in a stunning marquee in the grounds of the Colney Hall Estate. In true Think Pink style, guests arrived for their pink champagne reception along the pink VIP carpet, pink swags lined the ceiling of the marquee and even the menu was pink, featuring ham hock, salmon and a mouth-watering cranberry and mint jelly.
Despite the current economic climate, the ball received incredible support from both local and national companies and Sarah and her team were delighted that so many of the tickets sold, allowing them to raise such an impressive sum for their nominated charities. As well as the ticket price, vital additional funds were raised on the night through a ‘gourmet giveaway’, ‘circus tombola’ and auction.
Sarah Softley, Director of Softley Events, said:
“We understand that many businesses and individuals are struggling at the moment and our tickets are not cheap but obviously we want to raise as much money as possible for our chosen breast cancer charities. Therefore, as with all the events I organise, my aim is to offer our guests a spectacular evening which far exceeds their expectations.”.
Sarah achieves this goal by focusing on attention to detail. Every aspect of the event was focused on this year’s theme – the circus. The enormous marquee, which also featured a circular reception tent, was stunningly decorated with 3’ red balloons and clown hats as table centres. A twinkling star cloth backdrop lined one wall and the 335 guests were entertained by stilt walkers, unicyclists and balloon sculptors.
Sarah was also responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the event. This year was particularly challenging as the venue was, in fact, a field, so preparations included booking a marquee, catering tents, lighting, heating, bars and even toilets, to ensure that guests were as comfortable as they would be in a five star venue. In addition, Sarah and her team at Softly Events were responsible for distributing the tickets, creating the menu, decorating the marquee and adding that special touch of glamour on which she prides herself.
Sarah Softley said:
“I aim to bring something special to every event I organise, as it is these individual touches which people notice and remember. The team worked hard to ensure that nothing was overlooked, with gifts for the table organisers, goodie bags packed full of gifts for the guest to take away and remember the evening by, and our circus entertainers were a real talking point.”
Since founding the committee and organising her first Think Pink ball in 2004, Sarah Softley and the Think Pink Team have now raised over £62,000 for various breast cancer charities and Sarah vows to continue the good work.
Sarah Softley said:
“It has once again been a wonderful and humbling experience. Of course, I couldn’t have done it without the wonderful support of my Committee and our supporters and sponsors. We are all volunteers, so it is sometimes hard to find the hours in the day to put the event together, especially nearer the date as it becomes a full time job, but we are all passionate about the cause and we are all extremely proud to be part of one of the most successful charity events in the region.”.
